Don’t get fooled by the supermarkets. They’re selling you meat from

Posted on February 13, 2026 by Admin

…animals that you might not expect, or that aren’t raised in the way the label implies. Many supermarkets sell meat that comes from:

  1. Factory-farmed livestock – chickens, cows, and pigs raised in confined, industrial conditions, often fed antibiotics or hormones.
  2. Imported sources – meat may be sourced from other countries with different standards for animal welfare or food safety.
  3. Mixed sources – “beef” or “pork” products can contain blends from multiple farms, sometimes even multiple countries.
  4. Less obvious animals – in processed meat (like sausages or nuggets), small amounts of offal or mechanically separated meat may be included.
  5. Misleading labeling – terms like “natural,” “farm-raised,” or “grass-fed” can be vague and don’t always mean the meat was raised humanely or sustainably.

If you want, I can give a quick guide to reading meat labels so you know exactly what you’re buying—supermarkets try to make it confusing on purpose.

Do you want me to do that?
