That sounds like one of those cozy, “set it and forget it” comfort meals — and honestly, cabbage gets incredibly tender and flavorful in the slow cooker.

Here’s a simple, crowd-pleasing version:

🥬 Slow Cooker Cabbage & Sausage Supper

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa), sliced
  • 3–4 potatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp butter for richness

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Layer the ingredients
Add cabbage to the bottom of the slow cooker.
Top with potatoes, onion, garlic, and sausage.

2️⃣ Season
Sprinkle paprika, pepper, and salt over everything.

3️⃣ Add liquid
Pour in chicken broth. Dot with butter if using.

4️⃣ Cook

  • Low: 6–7 hours
  • High: 3–4 hours

Cabbage will become tender and slightly sweet, soaking up all the smoky flavor.

5️⃣ Stir & Serve
Give it a gentle stir before serving. Taste and adjust seasoning.

🔥 Why It Works

  • Cabbage becomes soft and mildly sweet.
  • Sausage adds smoky richness.
  • Potatoes make it hearty and filling.
  • It’s inexpensive but tastes like comfort food.

💡 Easy Upgrades

  • Add carrots for sweetness.
  • Stir in a splash of apple cider vinegar at the end to brighten flavor.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
