stovetop flatbread

Posted on March 13, 2026 by Admin

Stovetop flatbread is a simple, soft bread cooked on a pan or griddle—no oven needed. It’s perfect for wraps, dips, or as a side for curries and salads. 🫓

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ¾ cup Water (adjust as needed)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil (optional, for softer texture)

Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add water (and oil if using) and knead until smooth and elastic (~5–7 minutes).
  3. Cover and let rest for 15–20 minutes.

2. Shape the Flatbreads

  1. Divide dough into 6–8 equal portions.
  2. Roll each portion into a thin circle or oval, about ¼ inch thick.

3. Cook on the Stovetop

  1. Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Place one flatbread on the hot pan; cook 1–2 minutes until bubbles form.
  3. Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes until lightly golden and cooked through.
  4. Repeat with remaining flatbreads.

4. Serve

  • Serve warm with butter, dips, or use as a wrap for sandwiches.

Optional Flavor Variations

  • Add Garlic powder or Chopped parsley to the dough.
  • Brush with Butter or Ghee after cooking for extra flavor.

✅ Tip: Make sure the pan is hot enough so the flatbread puffs slightly and develops a light golden color, but not so hot that it burns.

If you want, I can also show you a 5-minute flatbread recipe that requires no rolling—perfect for super quick meals. 🫓✨
