chocolate-covered turtle candies

Posted on March 27, 2026 by Admin

Chocolate-Covered Turtle Candies are a classic treat—sweet, nutty, and gooey with caramel and crunchy pecans.

🍫 Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 20–25 soft caramels (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (milk or dark)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, for salted caramel flavor)

🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the base
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Arrange pecans in small clusters (3–4 pieces) shaped like little “turtles.”
  2. Melt the caramel
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt caramels with cream in 20–30 second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add caramel layer
    • Spoon melted caramel over each pecan cluster.
    • Let it set for about 10–15 minutes.
  4. Melt the chocolate
    • Melt chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth.
  5. Coat with chocolate
    • Spoon chocolate over each caramel cluster, covering it completely or partially.
  6. Set and cool
    • Let candies sit at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.

🌟 Tips for Perfect Turtles

  • Lightly toast pecans for deeper flavor.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
  • Sprinkle a little sea salt on top for a gourmet touch.

🍬 Result

Crunchy pecans + chewy caramel + smooth chocolate = irresistible bite-sized treats.
