About 15 minutes before a stroke, the body usually sends out 4 different signals

Posted on April 4, 2026 by Admin

Yes! Some strokes give warning signs just minutes before they happen, and recognizing them quickly can save a life. These signals often occur 15 minutes to a few hours beforehand.

Here are 4 key early warning signs of a stroke:

1. Sudden Numbness or Weakness

  • Usually affects one side of the body: face, arm, or leg.
  • May feel like heaviness, tingling, or paralysis.

2. Sudden Confusion or Trouble Speaking

  • Slurred speech or difficulty understanding simple sentences.
  • People may suddenly be unable to find words.

3. Vision Problems

  • Sudden blurred vision, double vision, or loss of vision in one or both eyes.
  • Can occur without pain.

4. Severe Headache or Dizziness

  • Sudden, intense headache with no known cause.
  • Loss of balance, vertigo, or trouble walking may also appear.

✅ Act FAST

  • F – Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side droop?
  • A – Arms: Raise both arms. Does one drift downward?
  • S – Speech: Repeat a simple sentence. Is it slurred or strange?
  • T – Time: Call emergency services immediately if any signs appear.

💡 Extra tip: Stroke can also cause sudden trouble swallowing, nausea, or brief loss of consciousness. Even if symptoms disappear quickly (a mini-stroke or TIA), seek medical attention immediately.

Recognizing these signals within 15 minutes can drastically improve recovery outcomes.
