🥟 Cheesy Beef Puff Pastry Pockets

🧾 Ingredients (Makes 4–6 Pockets)

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 200–250g ground beef
  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat
  • Cook ground beef with onions and garlic until beef is browned
  • Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce
  • Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese (reserve a little for topping)
  • Let it cool slightly

2. Prepare Puff Pastry

  • Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface
  • Cut into 4–6 squares depending on size preference

3. Assemble Pockets

  • Place a spoonful of beef and cheese filling in the center of each square
  • Fold pastry over to make a triangle or rectangle
  • Press edges with a fork to seal tightly
  • Brush the top with beaten egg
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top if desired

4. Bake

  • Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F
  • Place pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown and puffed

5. Serve

  • Let cool for a few minutes
  • Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce

💡 Tips

  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers for extra veggies
  • Make them smaller for appetizers or larger for a filling lunch
  • Freezes well: bake from frozen with a few extra minutes in the oven
