Put raw cabbage wedges in a slow cooker with these 3 ingredients.

Posted on April 7, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple slow cooker cabbage recipe that turns raw cabbage wedges into tender, flavorful goodness with minimal effort.

🥬 Slow Cooker Cabbage Wedges

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage, cut into wedges
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or butter
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a tangier flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey

Optional: salt, pepper, garlic powder, or smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage
    • Cut the cabbage into 6–8 wedges, keeping the core intact to hold each wedge together
  2. Place in the slow cooker
    • Arrange the wedges upright in the crockpot
  3. Add ingredients
    • Drizzle olive oil, vinegar, and sprinkle brown sugar over the cabbage wedges
    • Season with salt, pepper, or optional spices
  4. Cook low and slow
    • Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours
    • Cabbage should be tender but still hold its shape
  5. Serve
    • Spoon some of the cooking liquid over the wedges
    • Great as a side dish for pork, chicken, or beef

💡 Tips

  • For extra flavor, add sliced onions or garlic cloves
  • A few bacon pieces or ham chunks make it smoky and savory
  • Don’t stir too much, or the wedges may fall apart

🟡 Result

  • Sweet, tangy, and melt-in-your-mouth cabbage wedges
  • Perfect for an easy weeknight side dish

If you want, I can give a “one-pot version with just 3 ingredients plus a twist” that makes the cabbage caramelized and slightly crispy on the edges.
