Peace lily: thanks to this one ingredient, it will bloom for up to 10 years in a row.

Posted on July 7, 2026 by Admin

That headline is misleading. There is no single ingredient that can make a Peace lily bloom continuously for “10 years in a row.”

Peace lilies can bloom repeatedly over many years, but this depends on their overall care rather than a miracle additive.

To encourage regular blooming:

  • Provide bright, indirect light. Too little light is one of the most common reasons peace lilies stop flowering.
  • Water when the top inch (2–3 cm) of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the plant sit in water.
  • Use a balanced houseplant fertilizer at the recommended strength during the growing season (typically spring and summer). More fertilizer is not better.
  • Maintain moderate humidity and typical indoor temperatures.
  • Repot every few years if the plant becomes root-bound or the potting mix breaks down.
  • Remove spent flowers and dead leaves to keep the plant healthy.

Many viral posts recommend ingredients like coffee grounds, banana peels, rice water, eggshells, or cinnamon. While some of these may have limited uses in certain situations, there is no reliable scientific evidence that any one of them will guarantee years of continuous blooming. In some cases, they can even attract pests or encourage mold if applied directly to the soil.

If you tell me which ingredient the post recommends, I can explain whether it has any real benefit for peace lilies or if it’s just another gardening myth.
