Easy 2-Ingredient Lemon Oven Cleaner

Posted on January 9, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a super simple, natural, 2-ingredient lemon oven cleaner recipe that actually works without harsh chemicals. Perfect for quick cleaning!

Ingredients

  1. 1 lemon (or 2 for extra grease-fighting power)
  2. 1–2 cups of water (depending on oven size)

Optional: a few tablespoons of baking soda for tough grease

Instructions

1. Prep the Lemon

  • Slice the lemon in half.
  • Squeeze the juice into a small oven-safe bowl.
  • Drop the lemon halves into the bowl as well for extra cleaning power.

2. Add Water

  • Pour 1–2 cups of water into the bowl with the lemon juice and halves.
  • Place the bowl on the middle rack of your oven.

3. Heat the Oven

  • Set the oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • Let the water and lemon heat for 30–45 minutes.
  • The steam softens grime and the citric acid helps break down grease.

4. Wipe Clean

  • Turn off the oven and let it cool slightly (but still warm).
  • Remove the bowl.
  • Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down oven walls and racks.
  • For stubborn spots, dip the cloth in a bit of baking soda and gently scrub.

5. Optional Extra Boost

  • Sprinkle baking soda on greasy areas before steaming for extra scrubbing power.
  • Add a few drops of vinegar to the water for tougher mineral deposits.

💡 Tips

  • Works best on light to moderate grime.
  • Safe for self-cleaning ovens, though avoid the super high heat setting.
  • The oven will smell fresh and citrusy afterward!
