🥩 Slow Cooker Steak and Potatoes

Serves: 4–6
Prep: 10–15 minutes | Cook: 6–8 hours (LOW)

Ingredients

  • 2–2½ lbs steak (chuck steak, sirloin, or round), cut into chunks
  • 1½ lbs baby potatoes, halved (or russets, cubed)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (or 1 tbsp onion powder + 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Layer ingredients
    Place potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker.
    Add steak pieces on top, then onion and garlic.
  2. Season
    Sprinkle onion soup mix, paprika, pepper, and herbs evenly over everything.
  3. Add liquids & butter
    Pour broth and Worcestershire sauce over contents.
    Top with butter cubes.
  4. Cook
    Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours (or HIGH 3–4 hours) until steak is tender and potatoes are soft.
  5. Stir & serve
    Gently stir before serving. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Carrots or mushrooms
  • Splash of soy sauce for deeper flavor
  • Cornstarch slurry (last 30 min) to thicken juices

  • Chuck steak gives the most tender result
