Apple Pie Biscuits

Posted on October 31, 2025 by Admin
Ohhh, Apple Pie Biscuits — what a cozy, comforting treat! 🍎✨
They’re warm, flaky biscuits filled (or topped) with gooey cinnamon apples and drizzled with a sweet glaze — like apple pie meets breakfast biscuits. Perfect for fall mornings or dessert.

Here’s a simple, delicious recipe:

🥧 Apple Pie Biscuits

Ingredients

For the biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold butter, cubed

  • ¾ cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)

For the apple pie filling:

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

For the glaze (optional but heavenly):

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the apple filling:

    • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

    • Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    • Cook 5–7 minutes until apples are soft and syrupy.

    • If mixture seems thin, stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 1 more minute until thickened.

    • Remove from heat and cool slightly.

  2. Make the biscuit dough:

    • In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.

    • Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    • Add buttermilk and stir just until dough comes together.

    • Turn onto a floured surface and gently pat to about ¾-inch thick.

  3. Assemble:

    • Option 1 (Drop Style): Spoon biscuits onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, top each with a spoonful of apple filling.

    • Option 2 (Filled Biscuits): Cut out rounds, spoon a bit of apple filling in the center, place another round on top, and pinch edges lightly to seal.

  4. Bake:

    • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Glaze:

    • Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

    • Drizzle over warm biscuits.

💡 Tips & Variations

  • Shortcut: Use refrigerated biscuit dough + canned apple pie filling for a super quick version.

  • Add crunch: Sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar or chopped pecans on top before baking.

  • Serve: Best warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle of caramel sauce.
