Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (90 g) powdered sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg (optional, for slightly softer cookies)
  • 2¼ cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

1️⃣ Cream Butter & Sugar

  1. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  2. Add vanilla (and egg if using) → mix until combined.

2️⃣ Add Flour

  1. Sift in flour and salt.
  2. Mix gently until dough forms (don’t overmix).

3️⃣ Shape Cookies

  • Roll into 1-inch balls, flatten slightly, or use a cookie press
  • Optional: sprinkle sugar or press chocolate chips on top

4️⃣ Chill (Optional)

  • Refrigerate 30 minutes for better shape and texture

5️⃣ Bake

  • Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F
  • Bake 12–15 minutes, edges lightly golden
  • Cool on baking sheet 5 min, then transfer to wire rack
