Here’s a classic chicken croquettes recipe—crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside 🍗


Chicken Croquettes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, finely chopped or shredded
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder or onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

For breading

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko

For frying

  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute (do not brown).
  3. Slowly whisk in milk until thick and smooth.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic/onion powder.
  5. Stir in chicken and parsley.
  6. Remove from heat and chill mixture 30–60 minutes until firm.
  7. Shape into small logs or patties.
  8. Dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  9. Fry in 350°F (175°C) oil until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  10. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra flavor: Add grated onion or a pinch of nutmeg
  • Baked option: Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping once
  • Air fryer: 375°F for 10–12 minutes
  • Serving sauces: Gravy, honey mustard, or lemon aioli
