Fleischmanns Active Dry bread

Got it — Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast bread 👍
Here’s a reliable, classic homemade bread recipe that works perfectly with it. Soft inside, good rise, great for sandwiches or toast.


Basic Homemade Bread (Using Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast)

🕒 Time

About 2½–3 hours
Makes 1 loaf


Ingredients

  • 3½ cups (440 g) all-purpose or bread flour
  • 1 packet Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • 1 cup warm water or milk (43–46°C / 110–115°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

Instructions

1️⃣ Activate the yeast

In a bowl, mix:

  • Warm water/milk
  • Sugar
  • Yeast

Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
👉 If it doesn’t foam, the yeast is dead or liquid was too hot.


2️⃣ Make the dough

Add:

  • Oil/butter
  • Salt

Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.


3️⃣ Knead

  • Knead 8–10 minutes by hand or 6 minutes in mixer
  • Dough should be smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky (not sticky)

4️⃣ First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl
  • Cover and let rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled

5️⃣ Shape

  • Punch down dough
  • Shape into a loaf
  • Place in greased loaf pan

6️⃣ Second rise

  • Cover and rise 30–45 minutes
  • Dough should rise about 1 inch above the pan

7️⃣ Bake

  • Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F
  • Bake 30–35 minutes
  • Top should be golden and sound hollow when tapped

8️⃣ Finish

  • Brush top with butter
  • Cool at least 20 minutes before slicing

Tips for Best Results

  • Active dry yeast must be activated (unlike instant yeast)
  • Liquids hotter than 46°C (115°F) can kill yeast
  • For softer bread, replace water with milk
  • For richer bread, add 1 egg
