🥪 Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

A classic American favorite, the Philly cheesesteak is all about thinly sliced beef, melted cheese, and soft bread, sometimes with sautéed onions and peppers.

🥄 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 1/2 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • 2–3 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or American/cheese whiz)
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the beef

  • Freeze the steak for 15–20 minutes for easier thin slicing
  • Season lightly with salt and pepper

2. Cook vegetables

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat
  • SautĂ© onions and bell peppers until soft and slightly caramelized
  • Remove from skillet

3. Cook the steak

  • In the same skillet, add steak slices
  • Cook 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently until browned

4. Combine & melt cheese

  • Return vegetables to the skillet with the steak
  • Lay cheese slices on top
  • Cover briefly until cheese melts

5. Assemble the sandwich

  • Split hoagie rolls
  • Fill with steak, veggies, and melted cheese
  • Serve hot

đź’ˇ Tips

  • Ribeye gives the best flavor, but sirloin is leaner and easier to slice
  • For extra flavor, spread a little mayo or mustard inside the roll
  • Optional: sautĂ© mushrooms for a richer sandwich

🟡 Why it’s a classic

  • Juicy, cheesy, and savory
  • Quick to make at home
  • Perfect for game day or a hearty lunch
