❄️ Snowball Cookies Recipe
Ingredients (Makes about 24 cookies)
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
½ cup powdered sugar (plus more for rolling)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
-
¼ tsp salt
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
-
Mix in the vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
-
Stir in the chopped nuts.
-
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
-
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden (tops will still look pale).
-
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar.
-
Once completely cooled, roll them again in powdered sugar for a thick snowy coating.
Tips:
-
Use finely chopped nuts for a tender texture.
-
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
-
These cookies freeze well — just thaw and roll in powdered sugar before serving.
