Garbage Bread

Garbage Bread is a fun, over-the-top stuffed bread that uses up leftovers — savory fillings rolled inside pizza dough and baked until golden. It’s messy, comforting, and perfect for game day or an easy dinner 🍞🧀🥩


Garbage Bread (Stuffed Pizza Bread)

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 lb (450 g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Filling – mix & match

  • 1 cup cooked ground beef, sausage, or chicken
  • ½ cup cooked bacon or pepperoni
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar
  • ½ cup sautéed onions & peppers
  • ½ cup mushrooms or olives
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or marinara

Seasoning

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Black pepper, to taste

For topping

  • 2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan
  • Optional: sesame seeds or dried herbs

Method

  1. Preheat oven
    190°C / 375°F. Line a baking tray.
  2. Roll dough
    Roll pizza dough into a large rectangle on floured surface.
  3. Add fillings
    Spread sauce lightly (don’t overdo it).
    Layer meats, veggies, cheese, and seasoning.
  4. Roll & seal
    Roll up tightly like a jelly roll.
    Pinch seams and tuck ends underneath.
  5. Top
    Brush with butter or oil. Sprinkle Parmesan and herbs.
  6. Bake
    Bake 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Rest & slice
    Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.

Tips for Perfect Garbage Bread

  • Use fully cooked fillings only
  • Don’t overstuff — or it will burst
  • Let it rest before slicing to avoid leaks
