Here’s a classic, homemade Apple Pie recipe—flaky crust, tender spiced apples, and that warm, comforting aroma 🍎🥧


🍎 Classic Apple Pie

⏱ Time

  • Prep: 25 minutes
  • Cook: 45–50 minutes
  • Serves: 8

Ingredients

Pie Crust (for 1 double-crust pie)

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

Or use store-bought pie crust for convenience.


Filling

  • 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces (for dotting on top)

Egg Wash (optional)

  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tbsp water

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare Pie Crust

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water until dough comes together.
  4. Divide dough in half, flatten into disks, wrap, and chill 1 hour.

2️⃣ Prepare Filling

  1. Peel, core, and slice apples.
  2. Toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla.

3️⃣ Assemble Pie

  1. Roll out one disk of dough and place in a 9-inch pie pan.
  2. Fill with apple mixture.
  3. Dot filling with butter pieces.
  4. Roll out second disk and cover pie, crimp edges.
  5. Cut slits for steam to escape.
  6. Brush top with egg wash if desired.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Bake 20 minutes, then reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake 25–30 more minutes, until crust is golden and filling bubbles.
  • Let cool 2 hours for filling to set.

🍏 Tips

  • Mix tart + sweet apples for depth of flavor.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top crust for sparkle and crunch.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
