Apple pie that melts in your mouth

Posted on February 26, 2026 by Admin

Oh yes 😍 — a true apple pie that melts in your mouth is all about tender apples, warm spices, and a buttery, flaky crust.

Here’s a foolproof, bakery-style recipe:

🥧 Melt-in-Your-Mouth Apple Pie

🛒 Ingredients

For the Crust (or use 2 store-bought pie crusts)

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the Filling

  • 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith + Honeycrisp mix works beautifully)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter (for dotting)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Crust

  • Mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  • Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Add ice water gradually until dough comes together.
  • Divide into two discs, wrap, and chill 30–60 minutes.

(Cold butter = flaky crust!)

2️⃣ Prepare the Apples

  • Peel, core, and slice apples thinly.
  • Toss with sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  • Let sit 10–15 minutes (this helps soften them).

3️⃣ Assemble

  • Roll out bottom crust and place in pie dish.
  • Add apple filling evenly.
  • Dot with small pieces of butter.
  • Add top crust (full cover or lattice).
  • Crimp edges and cut vents.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
  • Reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake another 35–40 minutes.
  • Cover edges with foil if browning too fast.

Let cool at least 2 hours before slicing — this helps it set.
