Baked Potato

Posted on February 21, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple guide to make the perfect baked potato — fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside.

🥔 Ingredients

  • 1 large baking potato (Russet is best)
  • 1–2 teaspoons olive oil or butter
  • Salt
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, bacon bits, butter

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Potato

  • Scrub the potato clean and dry thoroughly.
  • Prick all over with a fork (helps steam escape during baking).
  • Rub with olive oil or butter and sprinkle with salt.

2️⃣ Bake

Oven Method:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Place potato directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until skin is crispy and a fork slides easily into the center.

Microwave Shortcut:

  • Place potato on a microwave-safe plate.
  • Cook on high 5–8 minutes per potato, turning halfway through.
  • Finish in the oven for 5–10 minutes for crispier skin (optional).

3️⃣ Serve

  • Slice open and fluff the inside with a fork.
  • Add butter, salt, and your favorite toppings.

💡 Tips for the Best Baked Potato

  • For extra crispy skin, rub with a little olive oil and kosher salt before baking.
  • Don’t wrap in foil if you want crispy skin — foil steams the potato.
  • Russet potatoes work best because they’re starchy and fluffy.
