🍪 4-Ingredient Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    350°F / 175°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter & sugar:
    Beat butter and powdered sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Add vanilla:
    Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Add flour:
    Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape cookies:
    • Roll into small balls and flatten with a fork
    • Or pipe using a star tip for classic Danish-style cookies
  6. Bake:
    12–15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool:
    Let cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

  • Use real butter, not margarine
  • Don’t overmix after adding flour
  • Chill dough 15–20 minutes if spreading
