  • 2 cups (~300 g) Cooked Chicken or thinly sliced cooked chicken breasts
  • 6 slices Ham
  • 6 slices Swiss Cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 1 package (8 oz / 226 g) Crescent Roll Dough
  • 1 tablespoon Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the dough
    • Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet.
    • If the dough is triangular, pinch seams together to form one large rectangle.
  3. Layer the filling
    • Spread Dijon mustard lightly in the center (optional).
    • Layer chicken, ham, and cheese down the center of the dough.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Braid the dough
    • Cut strips (~1 inch) along both sides of the filling.
    • Fold the strips over the filling in a braid pattern, alternating sides.
  5. Finish and bake
    • Brush the braid with beaten egg and melted butter.
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Serve
    • Let cool for a few minutes, then slice into portions.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle herbs like thyme or parsley on top before baking.
  • You can swap ham for prosciutto or cheese for mozzarella for a different twist.
  • Serve with a side of Honey Mustard Sauce or Creamy Dijon Dip.
