chicken roulade

Posted on March 31, 2026 by Admin

Chicken roulade is a delicious dish where chicken is flattened, filled, rolled, and cooked—resulting in a juicy, flavorful “spiral” when sliced. It looks fancy but is surprisingly easy to make at home.

🍗 Classic Chicken Roulade Recipe

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 2 large chicken breasts (boneless)
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • Filling options:
    • Spinach (fresh or sautéed)
    • Cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
    • Garlic (minced)
    • Herbs (parsley or thyme)

🔪 How to Make It

1. Prepare the Chicken

  • Slice each breast horizontally (butterfly it).
  • Pound gently until evenly thin.

2. Add the Filling

  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Spread your filling (spinach + cheese + garlic works great).

3. Roll It Up

  • Roll tightly into a log shape.
  • Secure with toothpicks or kitchen string.

4. Cook

Option A: Pan + Oven

  • Sear in a pan until golden.
  • Finish in oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes.

Option B: Fully Oven-Baked

  • Bake directly for 30–35 minutes.

5. Rest & Slice

  • Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Slice into rounds to reveal the spiral filling.

🌟 Variations

  • Creamy version: Add cream sauce on top.
  • Desi twist: Use spices like cumin, chili flakes, coriander, and a bit of Garam Masala
  • Healthy version: Skip cheese and use veggies only.

🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • With mashed potatoes or rice
  • Alongside roasted vegetables
  • With a light salad
