Creamy Pea Salad with Bacon

Posted on July 6, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, classic Creamy Pea Salad with Bacon that’s perfect as a side dish for picnics, barbecues, or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked until crisp and crumbled
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup finely diced red onion
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon until crispy, then let it cool and crumble it.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peas, bacon, cheddar cheese, and red onion.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream (if using), and vinegar or lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the dressing over the pea mixture and stir gently until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors blend.

Optional additions

  • Chopped hard-boiled eggs
  • Diced celery for extra crunch
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Fresh dill or parsley
  • Crumbled feta instead of cheddar for a different flavor

This salad keeps well in the refrigerator for about 2–3 days in an airtight container. For the best texture, keep it chilled until serving.
