  • 2 lbs (900g) Yukon Gold or russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1½ cups heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Gruyère
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Fresh thyme or parsley (optional)

1️⃣ Prep

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a baking dish.

2️⃣ Layer the Potatoes

  • Arrange thinly sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
  • Sprinkle garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika between layers.

3️⃣ Make the Cream Mixture

  • In a bowl, mix cream, melted butter, and half the cheese.

4️⃣ Pour & Top

  • Pour the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  • Top with remaining cheese and Parmesan.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let rest 10 minutes before serving (it thickens as it sits).
