Here’s a simple, flavorful slow-cooker cabbage meal that’s hearty, healthy, and perfect for making guests ask for seconds 🥬🍲

Slow-Cooker Cabbage Meal

Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage, chopped or shredded
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (or 2 fresh tomatoes, chopped)
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp paprika (sweet or smoked)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1–2 tsp Italian herbs or thyme for extra flavor

Method

  1. Brown the meat (optional but flavorful)
    • In a skillet, cook ground beef/sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add to slow cooker
    • Place cabbage, meat, onion, garlic, tomatoes, broth, paprika, and seasoning into the slow cooker.
  3. Cook
    • Low heat: 6–8 hours
    • High heat: 3–4 hours
    • Stir occasionally if you can.
  4. Taste & adjust
    • Add salt, pepper, or more paprika to taste.
  5. Serve
    • Serve as a one-pot meal or over rice/potatoes.
    • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or a dollop of sour cream.

Tips

  • Cabbage absorbs flavor — the longer it cooks, the sweeter it gets.
  • For a heartier dish, add diced potatoes or carrots.
  • Use smoked sausage for deeper flavor.
  • Can be made a day ahead; flavors improve overnight.

If you want, I can also give a “restaurant-style” version with bacon and balsamic glaze that makes this cabbage dish extra crave-worthy for guests.

Do you want me to do that?
