Easy Alabama Firecracker Recipe

Posted on January 15, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, easy Alabama Firecracker recipe—a fun, spicy appetizer that’s perfect for parties or game days. 🌶️

Easy Alabama Firecracker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Firecracker Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2–3 tbsp Sriracha (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • Optional: 1 tsp honey or sugar for a hint of sweetness

Instructions

1. Make the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Sriracha, lime juice, and honey (if using).
  2. Set aside in the fridge.

2. Prepare the Shrimp

  1. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, coating evenly.

3. Fry the Shrimp

  1. Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry shrimp 2–3 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Assemble the Firecrackers

  • Toss the fried shrimp in Firecracker Sauce until well coated.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or cilantro if desired.

Tips

  • Oven-baked option: Bake coated shrimp at 425°F (220°C) for 8–10 minutes, then toss in sauce.
  • Serve with ranch, extra sauce, or tortilla chips.
  • Adjust Sriracha to control heat—this is a spicy appetizer, but you can make it mild.

If you want, I can make a super quick 15-minute Alabama Firecracker version that uses minimal ingredients and no frying.
