FRIED CABBAGE (WITH BACON, ONION, AND GARLIC)

Posted on March 13, 2026 by Admin

Fried cabbage with bacon with bacon, onion, and garlic is a simple, savory comfort dish that’s full of flavor. 🥬🥓 It’s quick to make and works great as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Green cabbage, chopped
  • 6 slices Bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: pinch of Paprika

Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy.
  • Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.

2. Sauté Onion and Garlic

  • Add diced onion to the skillet and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook about 30 seconds until fragrant.

3. Fry the Cabbage

  • Add chopped cabbage to the skillet.
  • Stir well so the cabbage coats in the bacon fat.
  • Cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage softens and lightly browns.

4. Finish the Dish

  • Add the cooked bacon back to the skillet.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika if desired.
  • Cook another 2–3 minutes and serve hot.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Sausage for extra protein
  • A splash of Apple cider vinegar for tangy flavor
  • Red pepper flakes for heat

✅ Tip: Let the cabbage sit in the pan for a minute without stirring occasionally—this helps it caramelize slightly and develop deeper flavor.

If you want, I can also show you a one-pan cabbage, bacon, and potato skillet recipe that turns this into a full meal. 🥔🥓🥬
