Posted on February 18, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a rich, gooey, chocolatey Homemade Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters recipe — just like the classic candy, but easy to make at home.

🍫 Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters

🛒 Ingredients (Makes about 18–24 clusters)

  • 2 cups pecan halves (lightly toasted)
  • 1 cup soft caramels (about 25–30 pieces) or 1 cup thick caramel sauce
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (if melting wrapped caramels)
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate if preferred)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or butter (optional, for smoother melting)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, for salted turtles)

🥜 Step 1: Toast the Pecans (Highly Recommended)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread pecans on a baking sheet.
  3. Toast 6–8 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Cool completely.

This enhances flavor dramatically.

🍯 Step 2: Melt the Caramel

If using wrapped caramels:

  1. Unwrap and place in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Add 2 tbsp heavy cream.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

If using thick caramel sauce:

  • Warm slightly until pourable.

🐢 Step 3: Form the Base

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange pecans in small clusters (3–4 halves each) shaped like a “turtle.”
  3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon caramel over each cluster.
  4. Let set for 10–15 minutes.

🍫 Step 4: Melt the Chocolate

  1. Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil in 30-second intervals.
  2. Stir until smooth.

🍬 Step 5: Coat the Clusters

  1. Spoon melted chocolate over each caramel cluster.
  2. Spread gently to cover.
  3. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt (optional).

❄️ Step 6: Set

  • Let firm at room temperature 1–2 hours
    OR
  • Refrigerate 20–30 minutes

💡 Pro Tips

  • Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Add a drizzle of white chocolate on top for presentation.
  • Store in airtight container up to 1 week (longer in fridge).
  • Freeze up to 3 months.
