Salmon patties

Posted on March 17, 2026 by Admin

Salmon patties (also called salmon cakes) are crispy on the outside, tender inside, and super budget-friendly—especially if you use canned salmon.

🍽️ Classic Salmon Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 can salmon (drained, bones removed if desired)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 2 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for moisture)
  • Salt, pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp oil for frying

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep the salmon
    • Flake it in a bowl with a fork.
  2. Mix everything
    • Add egg, breadcrumbs, onion, mayo, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix until it holds together.
  3. Form patties
    • Shape into small round cakes.
  4. Cook
    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.

✨ Tips for perfect patties

  • If mixture is too wet → add more breadcrumbs
  • If too dry → add a little mayo or milk
  • Chill for 15 minutes before frying to help them hold shape

🍋 Easy serving ideas

  • With lemon wedges and a side salad
  • On a sandwich or burger bun
  • With rice or mashed potatoes

👍 Optional flavor boosts

  • Garlic or mustard
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, dill)
  • A dash of hot sauce or chili flakes 🌶️

🥄 Simple dipping sauce

Mix:

  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt & pepper

These are quick, filling, and perfect for a weeknight meal.

If you want, I can show you a no-fry (oven or air fryer) version that’s lighter but still crispy.
