Slow cooker salisbury steak

Posted on February 11, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, comforting Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak recipe — rich brown gravy, tender beef patties, and perfect over mashed potatoes.

🥩 Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

For the patties:

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the gravy:

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional but recommended)

Instructions

  1. Mix patties
Combine all patty ingredients in a bowl. Form into 4–6 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Brown (optional but recommended)
Sear patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side. This adds flavor and helps them hold together.
  3. Make gravy mixture
In a bowl, whisk together soup, beef broth, gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Assemble in slow cooker
Place sliced onions and mushrooms on the bottom. Add patties on top. Pour gravy mixture over everything.
  5. Cook
    • Low: 5–6 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
  6. Serve
Spoon extra gravy over patties. Great with:

    • Mashed potatoes
    • Egg noodles
    • Rice
    • Steamed green beans

💡 Tip for Thicker Gravy

If you want it thicker at the end:

  • Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water
  • Stir into slow cooker
  • Cook on High for 15–20 minutes

If you’d like, I can also give you:

  • A from-scratch (no canned soup) version
  • A low-carb/keto version
  • Or an Instant Pot version
