Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for homemade Turtle Candy — the classic combo of caramel, pecans, and chocolate. They’re perfect for gifts, holidays, or a quick sweet treat.

🐢 Easy Homemade Turtle Candy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 bag (11 oz) soft caramel candies or 1 ½ cups caramel bits
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (helps soften the caramel)
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
  • Sea salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pecans

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Arrange 3–4 pecan halves in little clusters shaped like a turtle’s legs/head.
  • Make about 20–24 clusters.

2. Melt the Caramel

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add caramels + heavy cream.
  • Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring until smooth.
Or melt slowly on the stovetop over low heat.

3. Add the Caramel

  • Spoon about 1 teaspoon of melted caramel onto each pecan cluster.
  • Let sit 10–15 minutes, or refrigerate briefly to firm up.

4. Melt the Chocolate

  • Melt chocolate chips (and coconut oil if using) in the microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring until smooth.

5. Top with Chocolate

  • Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate over each caramel cluster, covering the caramel.
  • Sprinkle with sea salt if desired.

6. Set and Serve

  • Allow to cool at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
  • Store in an airtight container (room temp up to 1 week; fridge up to 3 weeks).

🍫 Variations

  • Dark chocolate turtles
  • White chocolate drizzle
  • Pretzel turtles (use small pretzels as the base)
  • Turtle bars (press ingredients into a pan and cut into squares)

If you want, I can also give you a 3-ingredient microwave version or a salted caramel gourmet version.
