Here’s a simple, comforting vegetable casserole you can make at home with everyday ingredients:

🥦 Vegetable Casserole Recipe

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, potatoes, beans, cauliflower, etc.)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1½ cups milk
  • ½ cup grated cheese (optional but tasty)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon dried herbs (oregano or thyme)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare vegetables
    • Boil or steam the vegetables until slightly tender (not too soft).
  2. Make the sauce
    • Heat butter in a pan
    • Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft
    • Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute
    • Gradually add milk, stirring to avoid lumps
    • Cook until thick and creamy
  3. Combine
    • Add vegetables to the sauce
    • Season with salt, pepper, and herbs
    • Mix in cheese (if using)
  4. Assemble
    • Transfer to a greased baking dish
    • Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top
  5. Bake
    • Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes
    • Top should be golden and slightly crispy

🍽️ Tips

  • Add cooked chicken or pasta to make it more filling
  • Use cream instead of milk for a richer taste
  • You can skip cheese for a lighter version

This dish is warm, nutritious, and perfect for family meals. If you want, I can give you a desi-style (Pakistani/Indian) version with spices or a quick no-oven version.
