# Very dirty mop, do not buy it again: a drop of this ingredient and it will be as good as new again

Posted on April 1, 2026 by Admin

Ah, this is one of those simple, almost magical cleaning tricks! The “ingredient” that can make a very dirty mop look and smell like new is usually baking soda. Here’s how it works:

🧽 How to Revive a Dirty Mop

Ingredients

  • 1 very dirty mop
  • 1–2 tablespoons baking soda
  • Warm water (enough to soak the mop)
  • Optional: a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice for extra freshness

Steps

  1. Fill a bucket or basin with warm water.
  2. Add baking soda and stir until dissolved.
  3. Soak the mop head for 15–30 minutes.
  4. Optionally, add a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice to neutralize odors.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  6. Wring out and let it dry completely in the sun (sunlight also helps disinfect).

✅ Why It Works

  • Baking soda is mildly abrasive, lifts grime, and neutralizes odors.
  • The warm water helps dissolve grease and dirt.
  • Sun-drying kills bacteria and gives a fresh smell.

💡 Tip: For routine maintenance, rinse your mop after every use in warm soapy water with a teaspoon of baking soda—your mop will stay cleaner much longer.

If you want, I can also give a “5-minute mop revival trick” using just common kitchen ingredients—no scrubbing needed.
